Chung Cheng held its annual cross country this year on 11 March at Marina Bay. This year the school took on the challenge of completing 10,000km together as a whole and successfully accomplished it with pride. The event kicked off with the competitive runners from the 4 levels as well as the teachers and parents.
It was one of those really warm days where the scorching sun was anything but kind to us. Many of us even went home with sun burns! However, despite the baking sun, everyone still completed the cross country grinning from ear to ear. It was a really heart-warming scene to see the whole school actively participating in the cross country , especially our graduating batch of Secondary 4s , making their last cross country with Chung Cheng the most memorable one. Everyone in school had contributed to the 10,000km, even the staffs working in the General Office, including our elderly staff over 70 years of age. It was truly a remarkable feat.
The competitive runners had begun their race earlier than the Fun Run students and medals were given out to the Top10 Boys & Girls of each level and the Teachers/Parents race. Here are our top runners for each level!
Secondary 1 : Zheng Nan 1LY & Ying Xin 1BN
Secondary 2 : Xiang Yao 2LY & Ruo Yin 2HM
Secondary 3 : Chuan Guan 3IT & Thalia 3LY
Secondary 4 : Winson 4LY & Sze Yan 4DL
Teachers/Parents : Miss Tay Hui Min
Congratulations to all of our winners!
Last but not least, this event wouldn’t have been possible without the painstaking planning by the PE department , the St. John helpers attending to any of us who didn’t feel well or injured ourselves along the route and also the few Scouts who mended the water-point station at the halfway mark.
